The final Ottawa Valley Golf Association Junior Field Day for 2011 took place on Monday, June 27th; next week will see the best juniors in the region battle it out for the OVGA Junior City & District Title.
The venue for Junior Field Day #3 was the Brockville Country Club and the golfers had perfect conditions to take on the venerable Stanley Thompson designs with sunny skies, warm temperatures, and light winds marking the day.
Leading the way for the boy’s field were a couple of Junior-Aged players. Will Courchene of Mississippi GC and Maxime Marengere of Rivermead GC both shot 71 to share top spot.
In the Boys’ 14-16 class (Juvenile) three players shared the low score on the day, each posting a 78. The trio was comprised of Jonathan Whittemore of Royal Ottawa GC, Jon Pick of Eagle Creek GC, and Justin Chenier of Bunckingham.
Unlike in the other classes, there was no tie on the Boy’s 13 & Under field where Riley Teal was the top player with a score of 82. Jared Dandy of Hawkesbury Golf & Curling Club was second at 84.
In the Girls’ competition play was dominated by a couple home course golfers. Emily Peters led the way with an 84 while fellow Brockville CC member Alex Hodgkinson was second at 88.
