The W.G. Bedard Ottawa District Golf Association Seniors’ Trophy was presented to first-time winner Dru Lafave at the conclusion of the Ottawa Valley Golf Association’s Seniors Championship sponsored by the Canadian Golf & Country Club.
Dru was able to back up his 3 over par round from the first day of the OVGA Championship held at the Dragonfly Golf Links with an even par round on the West Course at the Canadian Golf & Country Club on the final day of the championship. “Everything was working,” said Mr. Lafave. “I woke up this morning thinking that I had a chance to win the championship if I continued with a steady round. I was also thinking of my brother Richard, who passed away two years ago and thought it would be nice to win one for him.” Mr. Lafave, who is the owner of GOLFOMAX, shot the low round of the day at the Canadian Golf & Country Club.
Cedarhill’s Greg Nezan finished a close second (76-73-149), followed by first round leader Peter Mayo from The Marshes (71-80-151). Fourth place went to Rick St-Denis (73-79-152) from Les Vieux Moulins Golf Clubs whose 2 year winning streak in this competition also came to an end.
