Peloton Glencoe Invitational Announces More Upgrades for 2024

What started as a simple club invitational has grown to one of the most talked about golf tournaments in the country, for both amateurs and professionals. And this year, as the 28th edition of the Peloton Glencoe Invitational presented by StoneX gets ready to be played out in a few weeks, the organizing committee has added even more nuances to the festivities.

This week it was announced that the maximum payout would increase to $100,000 (CAD) making it would of largest purses played for at an independent golf event in Canada. For the first time in tournament history, the Invitational will crown four champions across its male professional, male amateur, female professional and female amateur divisions with the professional champions each taking home $15,000. 

Canada’s Top Pro Talent Emerges

With attractive prizes on the line (and more than just money; more details below) several young Canadians are choosing to make their professional debuts in Calgary at the Glencoe Golf & Country Club on June 13-15, 2024. Others will mark their first event played as a professional in their home country.

On the Women’s side of the draw, decorated Canadian Amateur Monet Chun has chosen Calgary as the location where she will play for the first time as a professional.

Chun is currently ranked 62nd on the World Amateur Golf Rankings and was the 2022 Canadian Women’s Amateur champion. As a member of Michigan Wolverines, Chun (Richmond Hill, Ont.), recently captured the NCAA DI Big Ten Championship and notably finished second at the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. 

Ellie Szeryk, as a senior with the NCAA Division I SMU Mustangs, Szeryk (London, Ont.) recently posted a top-5 finish at the AAC Women’s Golf Championships and an 8th place finish at the NCAA DI Bryan Regional. Szeryk finished fifth at the 2023 Glencoe Invitational and is currently ranked 169th on WAGR. She made her pro debut just last week at the Women’s Coloradp Open, but will play as a professional in Canada for the very first time at Glencoe.

On the men’s side of the action the reigning champion of the 2023 Digital Commerce Bank Glencoe Invitational, William Holan (Edmonton, Alta.) will make his debut as a professional on Thursday, June 13. Holan recently earned medalist honours at the NCAA DI Atlantic Sun Men’s Golf Championship playing for Lipscomb University.  

Invitational adds additional Monday qualifier spots for amateurs

With a focus on fostering more opportunities for Alberta’s top talent to compete against the best in Canada, the Invitational is also adding one additional qualifying spot to both the female and male amateur divisions. 

With three male and two female Monday qualifier spots now up for grabs, registration for the Peloton Glencoe Invitational Monday Qualifier on Monday, June 13th remains open and available online here

A first-of-its kind event in North America set to play on The Glencoe Golf & Country Club’s Forest Course

As mentioned, there are healthy monetary prizes on the line for the pros at Glencoe, including in the new Men’s Profesisonal division.

In addition to that, the male amateurs are playing for an exemption into the 2024 ATB Classic in Edmonton, an event on the PGA TOUR Americas, while the women are vying for the two exemptions up for grabs to the 2024 CPKC Women’s Open at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, Alta

Established in 1984, The Glencoe Golf & Country Club’s Forest Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. will provide a challenging test for both women and men. Males will play a black/red tee combo with approximate targets of 7,500 yards, while women will play a blue/white tee combo of approximately 6,400 yards. Further information regarding the Peloton Glencoe Invitational can be found at www.glencoeinivitational.com.
