PGA Tour Q-School Kicks Off For Fritsch

The PGA Tour qualifying tournament for Manotick’s Brad Fritsch has started.

Fritsch, now a resident of North Carolina, tees off at the 1st stage of PGA Tour Qualifying on Tuesday morning at 9:05;  He is playing at the Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, a short drive from the house he shares with his wife and daughter in Holly Springs, just south of Raleigh.

The 33-year old is having a strong year and currently sits 14th on the Canadian Tour’s Order of Merit.  His best finish on that tour this year was a tie for 3rd place at the Canadian Tour Players Cup.  Dating back to 2006 Fritsch has missed just one cut in 30 events on the Canadian Tour.

Brad has had reasonable success in the three stage PGA Tour Qualifying process but has yet to make it to the PGA Tour on a full-time basis.  In the Fall of 2007 and the Fall of 2008 he successfully earned Nationwide Tour Status; he played that tour for three seasons.

The 1st stage tournament for Brad will wrap up Friday and he will need to be in approximately the top 20 players and ties to advance to the second round.  The Tour usually announces the official number of spots from each stage after the completion of the opening round.
