Product Watch: New Balance Brings Fresh Foam X Defender Models to Shoe Line-Up

New Balance continues their push into golf.

While many golf traditionalists are not even aware of the band’s presence in the golf market, those who have worn shoes from the brand understand the company’s attention to fit and comfort in their products.

That continues this season with the introduction of the Fresh Foam X Defender and Fresh Foam X Defender SL (Spikeless) to their 2022 Spring Collection.

With the purpose of providing a secure fit, enhanced stability, and high levels of comfort, these models are built with a waterproof “FantomFit®” upper, a new “Fresh Foam X®” midsole, and a TPU outsole.

Notes from the company on the new line”\:

Fresh Foam X Defender Last and Upper

The X Defender has a 100% welded waterproof FantomFit® upper. The skeletally engineered upper provides ultralight support and fit. To enhance the fit, the shoe features a form fitting tongue that hugs the front of the ankle. The X Defender is built on a PW-1 last that has a wider forefoot and shallow toe box for a roomer fit and ease of fatigue during the round. The Fresh Foam X Defender is backed by a two-year waterproof warranty.

Fresh Foam® X Midsole

The foundation of the X Defender is the new Fresh Foam X premium midsole. The Fresh Foam X midsole has been reengineered resulting in better energy return, reduced weight, and the most cushioned underfoot experience to date.

Cush+® Insole

Cush+ is a foam compound used for the insole which provides an ultra-soft, cushioned feel. Golfers will notice how comfortable the insole is as soon as they slip their foot into the shoe.

TPU Outsole

The Exoskeleton TPU Outsole is designed to move with the natural motion of the foot. Its sculpted design allows the outsole to provide superior traction where you need it and flexibility where you want it. The X Defender outsole uses the Fast Twist 3.0 insert system with Pulsar cleats. The X Defender SL is an on-course, performance spikeless shoe.

Both models weight in at just over 300 grams a shoe, have a two-year limited waterproof warranty, and very key to the New Balance shoe appeal – are offered in sizes of 8-14 with D, 2E and 4E widths.

They also offer a 45-day comfort guarantee. You can find them at retail starting March 1, 2022.
