– Andrew Jensen of Ottawa is in the mix at the two-day TriMark Sportswear Ahead Spring Championship, a Platinum Series event on the Great Lakes Tour. The pro who represents eQuinelle in Kemptville shot four under par, 68, on Tuesday and shares 7th place after round one. Unfortunately a massive overnight storm in the Guelph area has dumped a lot of water on to the Victoria Park golf facility and play was delayed this morning with some holes with large sections underwater. Hopefully they can get in round two.
-The Golf Quebec Men’s Mid-Amateur starts today in Whitlock, Quebec. There are a lot of golfers from Eastern Ontario/Outaouais in the field. Be sure to keep up to date on the leaderboard here. The Women’s Mid-Amateur kicks off Thursday at Whitlock.
-Flagstick staff dropped by the Heron Point Golf Club in Lanark yesterday. The club is currently doing some interesting renovations. The second hole has a massive new tee that adds more than a hundred yards to the hole and sits some 40 feet higher than the previous back tee deck. Watch for more news and details on the renovations in our next print issue.
-The Iroquois Golf Club has a new operator. Stan Brigham, is involved with the operation of several courses in the region, including the Gatineau Golf Club, Champlain Golf Club, and Les Vieux Moulins, has a long-term lease for the Iroquois Golf Club with an option to buy. Again, watch for more details on this development in the days to come.
-The Terlin Construction Charity Golf Tournament at the Dragonfly Golf Links in Renfrew was a huge success yesterday. 140 golfers enjoyed a stunning day of weather on a course in great condition. Better yet, they raised some $22,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Well done to all involved!
