Regional Players Sink On Great Lakes Tour

The Ontario based Great Lakes Tour kicked off their regular season on Tuesday, April 26th and it was a familiar name on top of the leaderboard by the end of the day.  Alan McLean, a translanted Glaswegian who lives in Canada, fired 66 on the Grey Silo course in Waterloo, Ontario to win by  two shots over Michael Gligic. (See winner’s interview here)  McLean, a multiple-time past winner on the tour, won $1,750 for his efforts.

McLean,40, turned pro in 1995 and has spent some time on the European, Canadian, and South African Tours.  He has compiled winnings on the European Tour of some $670,000.

Unfortunately the trio of Eastern Ontario golfers who played the Great Lakes Tour event were not quite as successful.

Andrew Rajhathy of Ottawa shot 83 in Waterloo to tie for 53rd spot.  Fellow Ottawa pro, Patrick Danis was one stroke back at 84 for a share of 58th place.

A tally of 85 left Belleville-based pro Johnny Chaivre in a  two-way split of 60th place.

69 players completed play in Waterloo.
