Regional Pros Fare Well

Regional based golf pros Matt McQuillan and Peter Sauerbrei fared well in the opening round of the NGA Hooters Tour event at the Forest Lake Country Club in Ocoee, Florida yesterday.  Continuing cool conditions did not allow the field to complete play until this morning but after the scores were tallied McQuillan was tied for 6th place with a 68.  Sauerbrei posted 71, even par, to end up tied for 35th.  Fellow Canadian Christopher Ross of Dundas, Ontario matched Sauerbrei’s total.

All golfers are in good position to make the 40 player cut-line today.  McQuillan is looking to work his way into the top ten of the tour’s money list; he currently sits in 15th place and is 5th in the overall points.  The top ten players on the money list earn a full exemption into the 2010 main Hooters Tour.  The Kingstonian is a member of the 2010 Canadian Tour.

Another day of good play and a made cut would be a big boost for Sauerbrei, also from Kingston, Ontario, who has made just one cut so far in his Hooters Winter Tour campaign.
