On top of several other golf events that we reported on for July the 4th there were two other golf tournaments also playing out on the Monday.
At the Buckingham Golf Club the CPGA Ottawa Zone was conducting the 2nd event of the year on the Flagstick.com Players Tour. The TaylorMade-adidas Summer Open saw Dave McDonald win with a score of 67. Playing in the second last group of the day the Assistant Professional from the Arnprior Golf Club negated a playoff that appeared to be necessary with Jonathan Schaepper (Mountain Creek) and Bob Flaro (Ottawa Hunt & GC) who each had posted 68 on the day. Flaro’s round was highlighted by an ace on the ninth hole, allowing him to shoot 32 on his front nine.
In the Senior Division Terry Kolar of Pakenham Highlands took top honours with a score of 70.
Over at the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club the first day of the Ottawa Valley Golf Association Junior City & District Championship was taking place.
Juvenile-aged player Cooper Brown of Dragonfly Golf Links led the field with a score of 69.
Leading the Junior Boys’ is a pair of players, Mike Crapper of Rivermead and Patrick Boudreault of Greyhawk, each with a 73.
The Bantam Boys competition sees James Parson and Riley Teal leading at a score of 76.
Alex Hodgkinson of Brockville Country Club leads the girls with a score of 78.
Day two of the OVGA Junior City & District Championship takes place at Mont Ste. Marie Golf Club on Tuesday, July 5th.
