Reinhart Makes A Move at Quebec Mid-Amateur

Dwight Reinhart of Renfrew will be looking for another big win on Friday.
Dwight Reinhart of Renfrew will be looking for another big win on Friday.

Less than two weeks after winning the Flagstick Shootout at Smuggler’s Glen, Dwight Reinhart is showing he is hungry to win a little more hardware this year.  The Renfrew Golf Club member shot 71 on Thursday, one under par, to move into a share of the lead at the Golf Quebec Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship being held at the Whitlock Golf Club.

Reinhart’s round was only matched by defending champion Graham Cooke who is fighting back from an opening round of 80.  Cooke now sits in a tie for 5th place but is five strokes back of Reinhart who shot 75 in his opening round.

Reinhart shares top spot with Adelard Collin of the Aplin Golf Club.  Collin ties for 10th at the Quebec Spring Open.

Reinhart tied for 3rd at the Mid-Amateur last year but as he and Collin have a three shot lead on the field, he is in a good position for a big win if he can post a solid final round on Friday.

In the pack just behind Reinhart is Jeff Crowe of Camelot.  The 2010 OVGA Tournament of Champions winner and 2011 OVGA Match Play Champion followed yesterday’s 75 with a 74 and is within reach of the title in just his second year of Golf Quebec competition.

Robert Fugere of the Rivermead Golf Club, who was tied for the lead after day one, shot 79 today to fall back to a share of 8th place.

At press time scores were just coming in for the 1st round of the Quebec’s Women’s Mid-Amateur.  We will provide an update when they are posted.
