Dwight Reinhart wants a Quebec major amateur title in a bad way. The former pro, who plays out of the Renfrew Golf Club, has been very close in his pursuit in the last two years and on Saturday he will have another opportunity.
Reinhart, who finished tied for 4th at the Alexander of Tunis on Monday, is looking over the shoulder of the leader at the Duke of Kent at the Royal Quebec Golf Club. Reinhart shot 67 on Friday, just one stroke back of Max Gilbert of St-Georges Golf Club. The two will tee it up together on Saturday for the final round along with Raoul Menard. The group tees off at 11:50 a.m.
In a related note Renfrew’s Jason Allen had a hole in one on Friday at the Kent. Allen aced the 4th hole at Royal Quebec with what was described as a “smooth 8 iron.” The ace also helped Allen shoot 74 and make the 18-hole cut which fell at 76.
Behind Reinhart the next top regional player from the OVGA is Robert Fugere of Rivermead. The ageless wonder shot 70 on Friday and is tied for 10th place.
