The trophies just keep coming for Dwight Reinhart. The Arnpior Golf Club member ran down one tournament he really wanted on Friday, the Quebec Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship. That adds to his resume of past wins at tournaments like the Ottawa Citizen Championship, the OVGA Match Play, the OVGA Mid-Am,the Flagstick Amateur Shootout, the Ottawa PGA Zone Championship (when he was a pro) and many more.
Since beginning to compete in this annual tournament at the Whitlock Golf Club in Hudson, Quebec Reinhart has finished in third place and lost in a playoff last year but the win has been illusive.
That is no more as he won by a single stroke this year and in the process beat out Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Graham Cooke.
“Today was awesome playing with Graham; we had an all out match today,” said Reinhart after receiving the trophy. “Today was probably one of the best tournament pressure rounds I have played in a long time.”
Both men were dueling through the back nine, rarely giving an inch, that was until Cooke made a critical bogey on the 17th hole.
That made all the difference for Reinhart who then knew he had to just try and get himself into the clubhouse. He was left with a tricky putt for par on the final green but managed to convert it for the win. He closed in just 71 blows adding to his opening 72 and 75, to slip him past Cooke by just that single stroke.

On the women’s side of the draw first round leader Lise Jubinville of Carleton Golf & Yacht Club had a tough final day, giving up ten stroke to par to eventually finish in 3rd place. Helene Chartrand of Summerleas was the victor with a 150 total.
