Rookie pro Brad Revell of Kingston will get his first taste of big time pro golf this week.

The two-time Ontario Junior Champion and recent graduate of North Carolina State University turned pro earlier this summer and has been playing a mix of Great Lakes Tour and eGolf Tour events.

Things got wrenched up a notch on the competition scale Monday as Revell attempted to qualify for the Nationwide Tour’s Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open presented by Planters.

Teeing off at 8:27 a.m. this morning at one of two qualifying courses, the Marsh Creek Golf & Country Club, Brad fired a 65 to earn one of the places available in this week’s last full field Nationwide Tour event of the season.

In an exchange of text messages this afternoon with Flagstick it was clear that Brad is excited at the opportunity and looking forward to the week.

Golf Channel will televise all four rounds of the tournament starting Thursday at 2:00 P.M EST.

The event features a (USD) $600,000 purse with $108,000 going to the winner.

Also in the field from the region will be Jon Mills, formerly of Deep River and Belleville, who is currently 31st on the money list.
