The good news for Brad Revell of Kingston and Marc-Etienne Bussieres of Gatineau was that they made the 36 hole cut at this week’s NGA Hooters Tour event in Florida.  The bad news was they both gave up ground in the third and final round.

The 8th event of the Bridgestone Winter Series played out at the Deer Island Golf Club in Tavares, Florida.  Unfortunately there was very un-Florida like weather, necessitating the donning of extra layers for those who had the earliest morning tee times.

Both Revell and Bussieres started this event well.  Revell opened with a 68 while his Quebec counterpart posted 71.  Bussieres backed that up with another 71 Wednesday while Revell struggled to a 75 that included a front nine score of 41 in near freezing weather before he turned it around on the back side with a 34.

The final round held a lot of promise and a low score would propel either player well up the board but it was not to be.  Revell turned in a closing 75 while Bussieres was just one stroke better at 74.

The final leaderboard saw Bussieres finish in a tie for 31st while Revell garnered a share of 41st.

Also making the final day cut were two other Canadians.  Stuart Anderson of Alberta finished in 24th place while Matt Hoffman of Thornhill, Ontario tied for 37th place.

The tour will resume play on January 18th with a tournament at the Timucuan Golf Club north of Orlando.
