Semi-Finals Set For OVGA Men’s And Senior Men’s Match Play

After a a full day and two round of matches, the players who will face off in the semi-final matches at the Ottawa Valley Golf Association Men’s and Senior Men’s Match Play have been determined.  The semi-final and final matches will be contested at the eQuinelle Golf Club in Kemptville, Ontario on Tuesday.

Men’s Matches

In the men’s division the four remaining players as Nicholas Brisebois (Kanata G&CC), Ben Brayman (eQuinelle GC), Jean-Francois Guillot (Kingsway Park), and Kurtis Barkley (Cedar Glen GC).

Brisebois dominated his two matches on Monday. The 18 year-Columbia University commit had to play just 26 holes in total, winning 7&5 and 6&5 in his march to the Semi-Finals. He will face Brayman on Tuesday as they play for a spot in the finals.

The other semi-final will see Guillot take on Barkley, a past champion of this event having captured the title in 2003.

Senior Men’s Matches

The final four in the Senior Men’s matches come from a wide assortment of Ottawa Valley clubs.

Leading the way is Robert Irvine of The Meadows who was the stroke play medalist. Irvine took down David Knight by a score of 6&5 in his quarter-final match. He will face Ken Lafreniere of Rivermead in the 1st semi-final on Tuesday.

The other semi-final will see Perry Freda of Madawaska GC play John Hunt of Kanata Golf & Country Club. Freda has good history at the host eQuinelle Golf Club; he won the Senior division of the Flagstick Open at the course in 2015.
