Ryan Sevigny of Stittsville, Ontario, who attends Queen’s University of Charlotte, North Carolina, was recently honoured by the Conference Carolinas as a member of the 2011 Conference Carolinas Golf Academic All-Conference team.

The 22 year-old was the only male member of the Royals team to be chosen for the award.  The 2011 Conference Carolinas Golf Academic All-Conference honours are given  junior and senior student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution that have played in a conference sponsored sport.

Each year the Academic All-Conference Team is released while closing out each regular season before starting the tournament championships. Belmont Abbey College will host the Conference Carolinas 2011 Golf Championships in the Pinehurst area at Woodlake Resort and Golf ‘Maples’ Course in Vass, N.C. This championship will begin Sunday, April 17 and will conclude Tuesday, April 19.

Sevigny is coming off a second place finish on the golf course.  He took the runner-up spot on March 29th at the Bearcat Classic where his rounds of 69 and 71 were the only rounds under par posted by a member of his Royals squad.

Ryan is a Senior at the Queen’s University of Charlotte.  He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Stittsville and played his junior golf out of RideauView Country Club in Manotick, Ontario.
