Strong Showing For Whalen

Try as he might, Josh Whalen, could not reproduce the magic that earned him a Golf Association of Ontario provincial title in 2011.

Over the Victoria Day weekend the Napanee native  was just two strokes off the lead going into the final round of the GAO Investors Group Junior Boys Spring Classic.

The 2011 Ontario Juvenile Boys Championed opened play at Wooden Sticks in Uxbridge with 69 and 75.

He started play Monday, May 21st in the final group, but unfortunately got off to a rough start.   He eventually turned it around on the back nine but at that point it was too late.

Birdies on four of his last fine holes left him with another 75, and a 219 total, three strokes back of winner John Boncoddo.

Whalen ended the tournament in a tie for 5th place with Gajan Sivabalasingham.

This weekend Whalen will join other top junior players from around the country at the Loyalist Country Club in Bath, Ontario for the playing of the CN Ontario Future Links Championship.
