Englishman Luke Donald gets his 2012 PGA Tour season underway today at the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles. Many eyes will be on the World’s #1 player as he tries to continue his unbelievable 2011 performance that saw him win the money list races on both the PGA and European Tours.
Donald will have a few new clubs in the bag this week, reportedly making the move to a TaylorMade RBZ (9 degree) driver and 15 degree RBZ three wood. Each will continue to be fitted with ACCRA Golf shafts, from a Kingston, Ontario based company whose shafts he has used for some time.
Donald, a Mizuno Golf staff player, also did some work with the team from that company to fine tune his iron shafts and get him familiar with the new fitting tools they possess, including the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer. We are all able to spy in on that session and learn more about the fitting process thanks to a video posted on the Mizuno Europe web page.
Lots of great information in it for those wondering how varying iron shafts can affect their ball flight performance.
