The Royal Ottawa Golf Club Becomes Home Base for the Ottawa Valley Golf Association’s Junior Development Team Through 2024

Gatineau, QC (February 21, 2022) – The Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) is pleased to announce a three-year agreement with The Royal Ottawa Golf Club (ROGC) to act as the home base for the OVGA’s Junior Development Team. This agreement includes the use of the ROGC’s facilities for two training sessions and a practice round during the season, as well as hosting the year-end U13 OVGA Cup championship.

“The Ottawa Valley Golf Association is very excited to work with The Royal Ottawa Golf Club to further support the development of junior golf in the region”, says Jim Davidson, OVGA Director of Player Development. “The Royal Ottawa has a long history of excellence in the sport and has recently developed a new state-of-the-art training facility for their membership. This is an amazing opportunity for the members of our Junior Team to help them achieve their goals”.

Kris Bulmer, ROGC Club President, adds: “The Royal Ottawa Golf Club has a long tradition of supporting junior golf and aligning with the OVGA Junior Development Team continues that tradition. The Club is pleased to be able to support our Academy Director and Team Coach Derek MacDonald. The opportunity for Derek to coach the team using our new Range and Teaching Academy will allow the whole team to continue to develop. The ROGC also looks forward to the opportunity to host the U13 OVGA Cup championship on the Royal Nine. It will be a pleasure to host many of the youngest high-level junior golfers in the region. The Royal Nine, with all new bunker sand this season, should prove to be a fun but challenging event.”
