One thing is for certain in this year’s edition of the Ottawa Citizen Amateur Women’s Championship, it would be nearly impossible to guess a winner as we head into the fourth and final round tomorrow at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Dunrobin.
Monday’s third round at the Kanata Golf & Country Club reshuffled the deck of players who have a strong chance of hoisting the trophy come Tuesday evening.
19 year-old Alison Timlin threw her name in the ring as a contender on Monday after posting an impressive round of 74 over the Tom McBroom designed Kanata course. That puts the Fresno State sophomore to-be in a tie (both at 233) with past champion Bonnie Wolff with eighteen holes left. Wolff had a struggle on Monday, eventually posting a score of 81.
But this will be no two-player race. Just one stroke back of the leading pair is Teri DeLuis of Brockville while another mark back of that are Diane Dolan and defending champion, Lise Jubinville.
Needless to say, it will be an interesting final round on Tuesday, not only with the leaders but with the pack behind them. A hot round by a chaser or a poor round by a leader could change the course of the tournament rather dramatically.
