Whalen Tops Last of Chase The Dream Qualifiers

Josh Whalen from Napanee was the final Medallist in the Chase the Dream qualifiers for The Great Waterway Classic.

Josh, the 2011 Ontario Juvenile Champion, made it look easy, with his stellar ball striking, and terrific putting to lead the Chase The Dream field with a superb 70 at Black Bear Ridge Golf Course on Sunday, August 12.

Shea Varty used a hot flatstick to fire a solid 76 to come in second place. Austin James qualified with a 77, taking advantage of his booming drives to help set up some precision approach shots. Ryan Turner rounded out the top 4, by shooting a 77 and grabbing the final spot.

Black Bear Ridge was in excellent condition and proved to be a difficult test for the aspiring professional golfers. The players, spectators, volunteers and Evolution Golf staff all remarked how well received they were by the Black Bear Ridge staff.

Black Bear Ridge was the final qualifier in the Chase the Dream series that began on June 3rd at Upper Canada Golf Course. All those who qualified from the six Chase The Dream qualifiers now move on to Smuggler’s Glen on August 26th to fight it out with the four qualifiers from the Evolution Golf – St. Lawrence Junior Tour. They will be battling for 3 exemptions into The Great Waterway Classic.
