It was not a great Saturday for the three Canadians who made the cut this week at the Nationwide Tour’s Chitimacha Louisiana Open.

With the winds blowing steadily around the 30 Km/h mark with higher gusts, Le Triomphe Golf Club was giving some of the field fits, and that happened to include Canadians Matt McQuillan, Jon Mills, and Chris Baryla.

McQuillan entered the day tied for 4th and tumbled from six under par to just one under par to end the day in a share of 40th place.  His first four holes on the back nine killed his day – he had two double bogeys and two bogeys in that stretch before playing the rest of the course in one under par.

Mills was the best of the Canadian trio on Saturday, posting a one over par 72.  To start the final round on Sundayhe sits just a stroke ahead of McQuillan in a tie for 34th place.  Mills was three over par for the day through eleven holes but fought back with birdies on the 12th and 17th holes.

Vernon, B.C.’s Chris Baryla matched McQuillan with a 5 over par, 76, on Saturday and is languishing near the back of the field with a share of 65th place.
