Work To Do For Bussieres

After shooting 73 on Thursday, Marc Etienne-Bussieres will need to make a move today if he wants to make the cut at this week’s NGA Hooters Tour event.

The Gatineau, Quebec native and Royal Ottawa GC member was cruising along in his 1st round of the Cherry Blossom Classic in Georgetown, Kentucky until he made a double bogey on his very last hole.  The final tally of one over par put him in a tie for 99th place after the round, the top 65 players and ties will advance to the weekend.

In eight events so far on the 2011 NGA/Hooters Tour Bussieres has made just one cut with many of his missed cuts coming by only only a one or two stroke margin.

Eric Onesi of Delaware leads the Cherry Blossom Classic heading into round two.  He opened with a 7 under par score of 65.

The top Canadian was Matt Hill, who is tied for 8th after starting his tournament with a 68.  Hill, the 2009 NCAA Champion, recently received exemptions for four events on the 2011 Canadian Tour.  The Bright’s Grove, Ontario native is now using Palm Beach Gardens, Florida as his home base.
