It was a very productive weekend for several young Ontario golfers. Each qualified for the National Finals of the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship to be held next Spring at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. They each did so at historic venues.

On Sunday Carlee Meilleur of Landsowne, Ontario topped her Girls 7-9 Division to win the Regional Final of the Drive, Chip, and Putt final. Her site was the historic Country Club in Brookline (Boston area), the host of the 1999 Ryder Cup and multiple major championships.

Meilleur was the top Novice Girl in the season-long One Capital Cup on the Play Junior Golf Tour this past season.

On Saturday two Ontario golfers competed and won at the regional finals held at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey.

In the Girls’ 10-11 division, Mia Wong of Markham used a hot putter to earn 70 of her 113 points that guaranteed her spot in Augusta during the week of The Masters by 8 points.

At the same location Savannah Grewal of Mississauga lapped the field by accumulating 131 points to win her division and her place in the finals.
