Product Watch: Wilson Golf Intros RB-Tech Staff Utility Irons

A historic golf brand and sporting goods brand continues to claw their way back into the hearts and minds of consumers with quality products.

Once a mainstay within the bags of ardent golfers, the direction of Wilson Golf has been muddled at times through recent years but a return to simple, clean-looking designs is drawing more admiration in the consumer market.

That has been true with their Wilson Staff model irons of late and now continues with a Staff model utility that even the most golf purists will likely admire.

Made to fill the gap between the longest iron and the highest lofted fairway metals, the new Staff Model RB utility for 2024 is a trio of clubs that provide the balance between ease of use and shot-shaping playability.

With a touch of offset, just enough top-line thickness to inspire confidence, and a low enough centre of gravity to promote a functional launch angle and peak ball flight height, they are well-balanced when it comes to performance features.

It’s hardly a surprise that the company says Wilson Staff players like Padraig Harrington and Kevin Kisner were consulted on the design.

Better players will not feel the need to look away and more average ball-strikers will find enough help to find a spot in their bag for one or more of these sticks that come in 18, 21, and 24 degree (loft) options.

The head features a hollow body construction to promote more ball speed through greater face flex over a wider part of the hitting area. To provide extra stability and help tune the sound of impact rib structures (RB) were placed strategically throughout the head.

The clubface uses a high-strength C300 steel for a balance of strength, flexibility, and feel.

“The tour professionals and elite amateur players who tested the iron all commented on its amazing soft feel at impact and optimised ball flight. We feel we have created something special for golfers in search of that easy-to-hit distance club in the Staff Model franchise that has been so well received by golfers worldwide,” Bob Thurman, Global General Manager of Golf and Vice President of R&D, Wilson Golf.

The Wilson Staff Model RB Utility in 18°, 21° and 24°, wil come with a stock True Temper Hzrdus Gen 4 Black shaft and Golf Pride Z-Grip.
