A handful of young talented Canadian golfers were added to the field for this coming week’s CPKC Women’s Open in Vancouver.

After announcing a wide number of exemptions earlier this week, five more Canadians appeared on the tournament entry list on Saturday, all Canadian amateurs.

Those added to the field included Angela Arora, Vanessa Borovilos, Ellie Szeryk, Yeji Kwon, and Sonja Tang.

19-year-old Arora is a resident of Surrey, B.C. and is current a member of the golf team at the University of Tennessee. She is also a member of Team Canada.

Borovilos, just 17, is part of the Team Canada Next Gen program and from Etobicoke, Ontario. She tied for 17th at the U.S. Junior Girls’ Championship and is verbally committed to Texas A&M.

Szeryk, a dual citizen of Canada and the United States, is the younger sister of LPGA member Maddie Szeyk. Currently a member of the golf team at Southern Methodist University, she recently finished 5th at the Glencoe Invitational and the Texas State Women’s Open.

Port Coquitlam, B.C.’s Yeji Kown it just 17 but already sports an impressive golf resume. The Team Canada – Next Gen member won the 2022 Canadian Junior Girls’ Golf Championship as well as the 2020 B.C. Women’s Amateur.

Sonja Tang also gives the fans at the CPKC Women’s Open at Shaughnessy more B.C.-grown talent to cheer for. The Victoria, B.C. golfer has been a standout golfer at the University of British Columbia. Earlier this year she won her second consecutive Canadian National individual title at the College/University Championships.

The 2023 CPKC Women’s Open takes place August 22-27 at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, B.C.

The field of 156 competitors will vie for the $2.5 million USD purse with the champion taking home $375,000. The final four players will be determined at the Monday Qualifier. Outside of that there are currently 14 Canadians in the field.
