The G4D (Golf for the Disabled) Tour wrapped up their 2022 season this past week in Dubai, with Canada’s Kurtis Barkley putting in a quality performance.

The tournament was held in conjunction with the DP World Tour Championship, will all golfers competing on the Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth Course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Playing in his 5th G4D event of the year, 35-year-old Barkley of Chesterville, Ontario (south of Ottawa) was the #7 ranked player in the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability headed into the week.

Facing a tough test in the Earth Course, Barkley played week, posting scores of 78 and 73 for the week. The latter boosted him up the leaderboard and into a share of 2nd place to complete play.

The three-time Canadian all-abilities champion said he played his heart out in the final round. While he hit 17 greens in regulation he noted that the putts were just not falling. As a result he could not make up more ground on eventual winner Rasmus Lia of Sweden.

Barkley will now have a short time to prepare for his next event, the Australian All Abilities Championship, held in conjunction with the ISPS HANDA Australian Open in Melbourne from December 1-4. He lost in a playoff at that event in 2020.
