OVGA U17/U19 City & District Titles Decided at Rivermead Golf Club

It’s might have been Father’s Day weekend but that did not mean a break from competition for young Ottawa Valley Golf Association competitors. The Association conducted the 2024 U17/U19 City & District Championships over Saturday and Sunday at the Greensmere G&CC in Carp, Ontario and the Rivermead Golf Club in Gatineau, Quebec.

Avery Nordman of Canadian G&CC won the OVGA U17 Girls’ title mostly due to her three under par round of 72 at Rivermead Golf Club. That also gave her the overall Girls’ title. She also won the Juvenile division in 2023.

In the U19 class, Antonia Ho of Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club prevailed with rounds of 82-80.

In the U19 Boys’, defending Champion Ben Sheridan held the lead heading into the final day. However, the Team Ontario member could not hold off Carter O’Brien. O’Brien, a member at Prescott Golf Club, turned in a 68 (-4) at Rivermead to take the division and the overall title.

In the U17 Boys’ Division, Karson Hurlbert of Camelot G&CC prevailed after a closing 73. His two-day total of +7 gave him a five-shot victory over runner-up Zack Moore of Lombard Glen Golf Club.
