Quebec Open Returns for 2023 – Moves To Royal Bromont

The 2023 PGA Tour Canada schedule continues to develop with a number of details emerging about various events. That now includes the Quebec Open. Now hosted by Golf Quebec with the support of VOLTA Sports, the tournament will take the July 10-16 spot on the calendar, the week prior to arriving in Ottawa for the Commissionaires Ottawa Open at Eagle Creek Golf Club.

After being played in Blainville in 2022, the historic Quebec event will shift to a site less than an hour outside of Montreal, Golf Chateau Bromont.

The 155 player field in Quebec will be chasing a $200,000 purse and the opportunity to advance their careers through the PGA TOUR affiliated system.

“We are privileged to have an extraordinary platform to showcase a world-class competition and major community initiatives through the three charitable foundations of the event, the Montreal Canadian Children’s Foundation, the First Tee – Premier Départ Foundation and LE BUT Foundation” said Mathieu Billette, vice President at VOLTA and Tournament Director of the 2023 Quebec Open. “At VOLTA, we also want to be a major supporter in the development of golf in Quebec and that is why, during the week, there will be several initiatives that support the programs of Golf Quebec.” Billette added.

“We are extremely proud to partner with VOLTA Sports to organize the 2023 Quebec Open. The respective strengths in event organization, marketing and business partnerships of our organizations combined with that of Golf Château Bromont will ensure the success of this event,” said Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, General Manager of Golf Québec. “The Quebec Open is an exceptional showcase for our programs and developing athletes, while demonstrating the impact of Golf Quebec on the golf community. Our team is dedicated to making this event a great success,” he concluded.

Golf du Château-Bromont, first opened in 1964 and offers breathtaking scenery, exceptional playing conditions, notably its immaculate greens and unparalleled course quality. It has been awarded Golf Course of the Year designation on several occasions and has hosted a multitude of major competitions throughout the years, including the Bromont Invitational, the Golf Canada Mid-Amateur Canadian Championship (the women’s event in 2022 and the men’s event in 2016), and most recently the 2022 ORORO Women’s PGA Championship of Canada.

“We are extremely proud and honored to be able to host this prestigious tournament on our fairways at Golf Château-Bromont,” said Martin Ducharme, Vice-President of Domaine Château-Bromont and Director of Golf Château-Bromont. “The entire grounds crew and volunteers will be hard at work to make this event a memorable success. Thank you to PGA TOUR Canada, VOLTA and Golf Quebec for your confidence in hosting the 2023 Quebec Open in Bromont.”

In 2022, PGA TOUR Canada introduced the Fortinet Cup, a season-long points race with a similar model to the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup. Edmonton’s Wil Bateman won the Fortinet Cup and the 2022 Tour Player of the Year award, earning two tournament titles that have earned him full membership on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour. Four other players also made the Korn Ferry Tour based on their Fortinet Cup performances. They include 2022 Quebec Open champion Ryan Gerard, who also qualified for the Honda Classic, a PGA TOUR event taking place this weekend in South Florida.

“Quebec has such a strong golf history, and we are so pleased to return to the province again this summer. We are excited to head to Bromont where our players will have the opportunity to play a great golf course and take in all that the region has to offer. Fans will have the opportunity to experience high caliber golf from our international contingent of players, many who will one day be playing on the PGA TOUR,” said Scott Pritchard, PGA TOUR Canada Executive Director. “To do all this working alongside VOLTA, Golf Québec and at Golf Château Bromont ensures that this will be one of the best weeks on PGA TOUR Canada this summer.”
