The Host Committee of the 89th Ontario Senior Men’s Amateur Golf Championship has announced that the first entrant has been determined for the tournament that will be played at the Brockville Country Club from July 23rd to 25th. The Golf Association of Ontario has designated that the 2023 Brockville Country Club Senior Men’s Club Champion would be given one of the two exemptions that will be granted for this event. The second exemption will be awarded to the winner of the BCC Men’s Senior Invitational that will be contested on July 19th, three days before the start of the provincial championship.

Michael Paquette was the Brockville Country Club’s 2023 Senior Men’s Club Champion and is now the first entry into the championship. Mike is a member of the Brockville Country Club’s executive leadership team, having served as Vice-President and President of the BCC Board of Directors. He is also an accomplished player, who is a tenacious competitor. His work on improving the golf course has been most appreciated by the membership.

David Dargie, Host Committee Chair remarked, “Mike Paquette is an excellent choice for our first exemption into this July’s 89th Ontario Senior Men’s Amateur. As well as being our Senior Men’s ‘A’ Club Champion, Mike has been a leader at our Club and a strong proponent of bringing major provincial tournaments to our Easter Ontario layout. With a second exemption being determined at our Sr. Men’s Invitational and a GAO qualifying round being played down the road at the Prescott Golf Club on July 3rd, we will hopefully have a number of local players competing in this prestigious provincial championship.”
