Brooke Henderson Preps For LPGA TOUR Season Closer – Meets With Media (Video)

Naples, Florida – Canada’s Brooke Henderson met with the media on Tuesday in advance of the LPGA TOUR’s final event of the season, the CME Group Tour Championship.

The top 60 players for the season have made their way to the Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida for this event, all vying for big rewards. Up for grabs this week, beyond determining numerous year-long awards, is a total purse of $7 million, the largest on Tour outside the major championships, and $2 million of that goes to the winner.

In her time with the media on Henderson, who won the season-opening tournament, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, but has yet to earn another trophy this season, shared what it means to make it to Naples for a 9th time, some highlights she has seen in her game of late, and how she is adjusting to wearing glasses full-time.

Ball Striking Progress

The 13-time LPGA TOUR winner from Smiths Falls, Ontario is coming off a t-19 finish at the The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican. She finished t-6 at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia before that. Both events featured two of her top ball-striking showings of the year. She gained 7.31 strokes on the field with her approaches at the Maybank while that number was 2.65 at the ANNIKA, her 1st and 6th best tallies of the year, respectively.

The difference in the showings came on the greens themselves where Brooke barely gained on the field at the Maybank and lost 3.18 strokes to the field at the ANNIKA with the flat stick.

As Brooke mentioned re-iterated today, she has been pleased since making a change to a new set of TaylorMade irons in September but has yet to get the putter to match what she is doing in the ball-striking part of the game.

Trending

Brooke has a win and earnings of over $1.5 million (USD) but she says she would be happy to bookend the year with wins.

“The last part of the season I have been trending in the right direction,” Brooke shared. “I’ve been seeing some big improvements in certain areas and I kind of just need the results show that, so hopefully this week everything kind of comes together and it would be a great way to finish out the year.”

Brooke gets her quest for the title at the CME Group Tour Championship at 11:35am on Thursday.
