Golf Travel: Cabot Highlands Unveils Second Course Name

The story continues to evolve for the former Castle Stuart property in Inverness, Scotland that came under the Cabot Collection family in 2022.

With their original Cabot Highlands Castle Stuart Links course opening for the 2024 season on April 1st, it seems it was a perfect time to unveil the name for the layout that will complement it come 2025.

The new course, a design by Tom Doak, will be known as Old Petty, a nod to the Old Petty Church that borders the property and was built in 1839. Being in the Highlands of Scotland is not only shaping the golf course and culture around it, but also defining the logo, which is an image of the beloved Highland Cow. The reaction to the the logo online was immediately positive, proving once again that the Cabot team has perfected the art of branding as they have at their North American properties.

As mentioned, Old Petty is scheduled to open in 2025 and features a links style layout that wanders along a tidal estuary.

Additional elements of the new course property include a clubhouse expanded to 11,000 square feet of space with a chophouse restaurant, clubhouse grill/bar, and a whisky/cigar bar.

It all complements the original Castle Stuart Links that has drawn acclaim worldwide. Guests can also stay onsite and enjoy the many amenities and lofty levels of service guests have come to expect within the Cabot Collection.

Cabot has become known for their cookies on the first tee and, appropriately, the offering at Cabot Highlands are Scottish shortbread cookies. Guests at Cabot Highlands can dine at the art-deco style clubhouse and enjoy the expansive views from the top-floor lounge.

Lodging on-site also allows guest to enjoy both the golf facilities, and have a home base from which they can enjoy this much-feted region of the world. That could include hiking, cycling, fishing, horseback riding, or even boat tours on Loch Ness just to the south.

Cabot Highlands is also handy to the urban core of Inverness, just ten minutes away, where they can wander through the streets, enjoy local restaurants, and appreciate the storied architectures.

That also means you are near to the Speyside region, one of the more revered for the production of Whisky. Be it The Macallan, Glenmorangie, or Tomatin, there are more than enough distilleries to capture your attention.

It all makes for a compelling destination, even more so in 2025 when the Old Petty begins to welcome golfers.
