Ontario Senior Men’s Championship at Brockville CC To Host Volunteer Recruitment Event

A large cadre of volunteers are needed for the 89th edition of the Ontario Senior Men’s Championship being held at the Brockville Country Club and to that address that, they will be hosting a recruitment event.

The Brockville Country Club’s Host Committee for the 89th annual Ontario Senior Men’s Championship is inviting anyone interested in registering as a volunteer for this provincial championship to sign up at a special event that will take place at the Brockville Country Club from July 22nd to 25th. The Volunteer Recruitment event will take place in Stanley’s Lounge (Lower Golf Lounge) on Saturday, April 27th between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.

The tournament will need between 60-75 volunteers each day, addressing such services as: player registration/hospitality tent; sponsor liaison; practice range marshals; hydration/refreshment station assistants; forecaddies; volunteer transportation; spectator control; scorecard runners; live scorers; parking; walking scorers; standard bearers; pace of play timers; and player transportation. There will also be opportunities for people to submit their information for the caddy pool that will be established for the 156 competitors.

The April 27th Volunteer Recruitment will allow the Brockville Country Club Host Committee to record potential volunteers’ coordinates for future communication, determine volunteer shirt sizes, and establish a preliminary count of volunteers. Attendance and registration at this event are encouraged, however, if you are not able to attend, please contact Linda Lumsden – Host Committee Volunteer Chair or David Dargie – Host Committee Chair to indicate that you wish to volunteer for the 89th Ontario Senior Men’s Amateur Golf Championship.

Saturday, April 27th will also mark the first day of sales for the July 22nd Welcome Cocktail Party and Hot Stove Hockey Talk in support of the Weekender Program for Kids. This will be a unique experience for the tournament competitors, and members of the public who buy tickets for this event on July 22nd. The beneficiary of all tickets sold for this event will be the Weekender Program for Kids. This group supports over 300 students in 22 different schools throughout Leeds & Grenville who are assisted through school breakfast & lunch programs. WP4K provides a food package for these food challenged students to take home for the weekend.

The 156 players who make up the field for the tournament will be the guests of the Host Committee. Another 150 tickets will be sold to the general public and tournament sponsors beginning on April 24th. These tickets will be sold for $50.00 each with all funds raised going to the Weekender Program for Kids.

Along with a “Movenpick” style of dining, the July 22nd event will feature an all-star lineup for the “Hot Stove” Hockey Talk. Hockey Hall of Famer, and friend of the Brockville Country Club, Larry Robinson, along with another NHL Alumni, will be part of an all-star panel discussion that will also include Cyril Leeder and Chris Neil from the Ottawa Senators; a current NHL player; and a representative from Team Ottawa of the Women’s Professional Hockey League.

Local morning radio show host, and member of the “Boys in the Booth” podcast, Harper Cotie will be the host for this panel discussion and Q&A. Silent and live auctions, a 50/50 raffle and other fundraising events will be a part of this evening as we try to raise much needed funds for the Weekender Program for Kids.

Ticket sales will be “in person” on April 27th, however, an opportunity to buy July 22nd event tickets will be offered online at the BCC web site: www.brockvillecountryclub.com after April 27th.
