The 10th season for the Eastern Ontario-based PLAY Junior Golf Tour is underway. The junior circuit has a busy summer ahead and they got things started on Sunday, May 21 at the esteemed Rideau View Golf Club in Manotick, Ontario.
The Rideau View Spring Open presented by the Humber College Professional Golf Management Program and in support of the CHEO Foundation attracted a full field of 72 junior golfers.
PJGT Founder and President Chris Veltkamp says the players enjoyed a perfect weather day with a course in impeccable condition, and appreciated by all.
Among the field were 21 players playing their inaugural event on the circuit, and 12 actually competing in a tournament for a very first time.
In a new effort this year, each tour event has a designated charity and this event saw a donation of $1550 made to the CHEO Foundation, with money donated per birdie made by the players in the field, in this case, 38 of them.
The low score on the day was turned in by Tyson Lum-Wah who posted a 73.
The winners and runner-ups in each division were:
