It’s the season of special edition of equipment and no event has become more synonymous with limited -edition equipment that the first major of the year held in Augusta, Georgia.
To pay tribute to this popular occasion, COBRA Golf has released a special version of the DARKSPEED driver, calling it the SEASON OPENER. It has all the features of their new DARKSPEED driver but with a distinctive look and details.
In contrast with the usual “murdered out” look of the standard DARKSPEED, this variation combines a unique colorway with Azaleas on the sole and Augusta green highlights for a festive, spring feel. Paired with an exclusive shaft and headcover, this driver makes a statement in both looks and performance.
The adjustable weighting system in the DARKSPEED LE SEASON OPENER drivers allows players to tune the club to adjust forgiveness, launch angle, and spin. The LS model, aimed at faster swingers who need lower spin rates, features three weight ports that house two 3g weights and one 12g weight; two in the front and a third back weight position. The 12g weight can be placed in the heel or toe to fine-tune fade bias, or in the back to add spin and forgiveness. The X model, which is designed to fit the widest range of players, features a back weight and a second front weight position allowing players to optimize ball flight.
DARKSPEED drivers also feature a multi-material chassis with ,lightweight carbon crown and sole plates as well as a reinforced titanium frame to create optimal weight distribution and maximum stability. The carbon fiber crown is 30% thinner than previous version, allowing more weight to be placed low and forward in the PWR-BRIDGE structure. A.I. designed PWR-BRIDGE Weighting in all three models features a suspended weight that is positioned lower and more forward, resulting in faster ball speed. A 13% larger PWRSHELL face insert with A.I. designed H.O.T. Face Technology maximizes speed across the hitting area. The face design is optimized using machine learning to increase ball speed efficiency and smash factor.
The DARKSPEED LE SEASON OPENER drivers come in a sleek, black colourway with a unique Azalea print on the sole and green highlights that capture the essence of spring and the famous Augusta tournament. A matching limited edition headcover comes standard along with Mitsubishi Tensei 1k Black shaft in choice of Stiff or Regular flex and 9.0- and 10.5-degree loft options. In Canada, LS model is available in 9.0 degrees only in right hand, while X models in left hand are available in 10.5 degrees only.
