Seven More Things To Know – CP Women’s Open

As the National Capital Region prepares to welcome the LPGA TOUR for the CP Women’s Open, you can expect plenty of extra coverage from us here at Flagstick.com. Leading up to that, today we present you seven nuggets of info about the tournament that just may come in handy when you are arguing trivia next week.

  1. This is the 5th time the National Capital Region has hosted the tournament. One of those occasions it was hosted by the Royal Ottawa Golf Club (2000) while the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club has welcomed the event in 1994, 2000, 2008, 2017, and 2022.
  2. Three players have won the CP Women’s Open three times – Pat Bradley (1980,1985,1986), Meg Mallon (2002,2002,2004) and Lydia Ko (2012,2013,2015).
  3. Since the tournament began in 1973 there have only been two Canadian winners – Jocelyne Bourassa (1973) and Brooke Henderson (2018).
  4. The tournament scoring record was set by Jin Young Ko in 2019 at Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ontario at -26 (66, 67, 65, 64).
  5. The 2022 CP Women’s Open will have all five major winners from the season playing – Minjee Lee, In Gee Chun, Ashleigh Buhai, Jennifer Kupcho, and Brooke Henderson.
  6. The average winning score for the three CP Women’s Open tournaments held at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club is eleven under par.
  7. In the 49 year history of the tournament it has operated under nine different names (most due to sponsorship changes) – La Canadienne, Classique Peter Jackson Classic, Classique du Maurier Classic, du Maurier Ltd Classic, Classique du Maurier Ltée, Bank of Montreal Canadian Women’s Open, Omnium canadien féminin Banque de Montréal, BMO Financial Group Canadian Women’s Open, Omnium canadien féminin BMO Groupe financier, CN Canadian Women’s Open, Omnium canadien féminin CN, Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, Omnium féminin Canadien Pacifique, and CP Women’s Open, Omnium féminin CP.
