Notable Holes – #2 Camden Braes

It’s measures barely 125 yard from the back tees and plays even less than that with the green sitting below the tee, but the second hole at the Camden Braes Golf & Country Club in Odessa, Ontario can be a mood changer early in your round.

At this length even the most novice of players can reach the surface with a short iron, putting an “easy” par or even a birdie in play soon after you leave the clubhouse. That said, a seemingly simple hole can make you feel foolish when you end up recording a high number on your card.

The green surface is not large and tee shots that end up on the fringe can require delicate up and downs if you happen to short side yourself.

Even worse, a small pond flanks the left side of the hole and one only needs to see the name of the hole to understand what can be a common outcome here. Known as “Kelpie”, the name means water demon or spirit, and you may be convinced one exists here as you watch you golf ball seem to be magnetically drawn to the aquatic intervention.

The world needs more short par threes and the second hole at Camden Braes shows you why.
