PRINCEVILLE, KAUAI, HAWAII – The highly acclaimed Prince Course at Princeville Golf Club, on Kauai’s spectacular north shore, has introduced a new 6-hole Par 3 course appropriately dubbed the “Mini Prince,” which opened on April 1.

The 18-hole Prince Course has long been ranked as one of the top courses in Hawaii and the U.S.  Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course is known for its magnificent layout following the natural contours of the land, encompassing 350 acres of rolling terrain, tropical jungle, gullies, streams, and waterfalls. However, for those who don’t have time to play the famed 18-hole championship course, the new Mini Prince offers a great alternative with six holes, each under 100 yards in length.

The Par 3 Mini Prince is carved out of the Prince Clubhouse’s 13-acre practice facility, which has always included practice greens and bunkers. Through an innovative design approach, the existing practice greens have been enhanced and expanded into six complete par 3 holes, serving double duty as part of the driving range earlier in the day, then transformed into a 6-hole course in late afternoon. The driving range closes at 3 p.m. daily, with the Mini Prince Par 3 course opening at 4 p.m. for the first tee time.

The Mini Prince is a walking course designed for all skill levels and is particularly suited to families who want to enjoy a few holes together. The course measures 424 yards total, with the individual holes ranging from 65 yards to 91 yards. Each hole features individual tee locations off artificial turf mats, and each green has been equipped with a larger 8” putting cup, providing easier putting for novices and more chance of a hole-in-one for experts. Play on the 6-hole course can be completed in approximately 30 minutes and can be repeated as many times as desired until sunset, when the Mini Prince closes.

The rate for the Mini Prince is $15 for adults and is complimentary if golfers played the Prince Course on that same day. Juniors age 8-17 are free if accompanied by a paying adult; unaccompanied juniors age 12-17 can play for $5. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All Mini Prince rates include unlimited play until sunset and a carry bag with appropriate clubs for the par 3 holes.

The 18-hole Prince Course at Princeville Golf Club is ranked as the number one course in Hawaii by GOLF Magazine for 2012/13 and #22 in the U.S. on Golf Digest’s prestigious list of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” for 2013/2014.
