The Kanata Golf & Country Club hosted the PGA of Canada Ottawa Zone golf professionals for their annual spring meeting on April 12 and a large contingent of area golf pros took the time away from their golf clubs to be in attendance.

Apart from the regular Board business with Director’s reports, tournament schedules for the professionals and the PGA of Canada Ottawa Zone Junior Tour were announced.

New PGA Members welcomed to the PGA of Canada – Ottawa Zone were Daryl MacLean, Director of Golf at The Marshes; Ryan Condon, Assistant Professional at the Stittsville Golf Course, and Mike Sherman, Head Professional at the Lombard Glen Golf & Country Club.

Two major changes to the Ottawa Zone, the first being a name change for the Ottawa Zone professionals. Each zone within the PGA of Canada is being re-branded and starting now the Ottawa Zone will be known as the PGA of Canada – Ottawa Zone.

The other major change announced was the retirement of PGA of Canada – Ottawa Zone Executive Director Harry Hereford effective May 31, 2017. Harry is looking forward to spending more time with his family after being at the helm of the Ottawa Zone since 1991. Harry received many personal accolades from various Board Members and was greeted with a standing ovation from the membership when the announcement was made.

A job search is underway to replace Mr. Hereford.

After a very busy question & answer period, the meeting was adjourned and the PGA of Canada – Ottawa Zone Professionals went back to their shops to continue setting up for the upcoming season.
