Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club’s Eric Ruhs Wins National Award

At their 2023 Fall Field Day in Aurora, Ontario, on September 19th the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association named Eric Ruhs as their CGSA/Envu Superintendent of the Year.

Ruhs, who has worked at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club since 1984 and held the Superintendent role since 1987, earns one of the CGSA’s most prestigious honours.

The title is awarded to a superintendent who has been nominated by a Provincial Golf Superintendent Association or a CGSA member as a knowledgeable and competent member of the profession and who has been distinguished in the practice of golf course management. The winner of this award is chosen by an anonymous committee of peers. 

To be eligible, nominees must have held the position of Superintendent for a minimum of five years and have distinguished themselves through their dedication to the profession, performance as a golf course superintendent, and contributions to their profession and community.

“Through his dedication to he provides superior playing conditions on a consistent basis and yet remains humble,” commented Dan Zdan, AGS, CGSA President. “He has mentored many in the industry that are now CGSA members. It gave me great pleasure to notify Eric and congratulate him on being selected as the CGSA / Envu Superintendent of the Year.”

Ruhs will be formally presented with the honour at The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference in late February, 2024, in Montreal.
