Montréal, May, 2024 – Golf Québec has announced the names of the 25 athletes who will be part of the Québec team for the 2024 season. This is the second edition of the Québec team program, which was a huge success last year. The squad includes two golfers from Gatineau, Ann-Sophie Bourgault (The Royal Ottawa) and Gracelyn Xiao (Rivermead).

The Espoir, Relève and Élite golfers who were selected will benefit from the support of Québec’s top coaches. Fred Colgan and Daniel Langevin will guide the athletes, while Benoit Lemieux will act as Consulting Coach for the Québec team.

The coaches will, of course, work in collaboration with each athlete’s personal coach throughout the season.

“I have a consultative role with the head coaches to provide the best possible support for the young golfers. We have a team of passionate young people who work hard all year round. We’ll accompany the athletes according to their needs, to make sure they have everything they need in their toolbox to optimize their development,” explained Benoit Lemieux.

Some athletes, such as Léonie Tavares and Charlotte Boudreau, will benefit from the support of the Québec team for a second consecutive year. They are extremely motivated by this second selection, which was made based on their performances from last season, but also because of their commitment and investment in their sporting development.

“We really have a great team spirit and that drives us to push ourselves. We play an individual sport and it’s not always easy, but with the Québec team, you really feel the support of the coaches and other golfers. It’s a really great experience,” says Léonie Tavares.

“It’s an hounor for me, it proves to me that the work I’ve done in the past is paying off and that I’m trusted. It gives us more opportunities to be seen, and that’s very positive for our careers,” added Charlotte Boudreau.

For others, like Alexis Rouleau, this will be their first experience with the Québec team, and he’s just as excited about the opportunity.

“I’m very proud to be part of the Québec team, we’re a small group and I feel really lucky. I performed well last year, and I’m pleased that this has allowed me to join the team. I’m going to be able to take advantage of all the benefits the team has to offer, and that’s certainly going to help me in the future,” he declared enthusiastically.
