This past Sunday, April 28, saw the kick-off for the 2024 Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) Junior Development Team training program.
The team met up at The Meadows Golf & Country Club in the south end of Ottawa for the session which, by all accounts, was tremendously successful.
The 2024 team is made up of 18 boys and girls aged 11 to 18 years old, looking to progress their games for competitive golf, to complement the work they do with their personal coaches.
Headed by Coach Derek MacDonald (Royal Ottawa) and Assistant Coach Carson Scissons (Eagle Creek), the OVGA Junior Development Team is also a stepping stone for the provincial and national teams. Alumni have gone on to higher level teams at the provincial and national levels, including: Team Quebec (1), Team Ontario (4), Team Ontario Next Wave (1) and Team Canada (2).
All volunteers, support staff also include Derek Lacelle (Strength and Conditioning), Madi Clarke (Mental Performance), Jim Davidson (Rules) and Serge Lafontaine (Team Manager).
