Ottawa, Ontario – The PGA of Canada – Ottawa Valley Zone (PGA of Ottawa) will run its 2023 Championships for assistant, senior and women golf professionals on the Flagstick.com PGA Ottawa Tour at the Mississippi Golf Club in Almonte, Ontario on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Assistant, senior and women golf professionals look forward to their annual championships traditionally held at the Mississippi Golf Club. Recent assistant champions are JC Beecroft (Royal Ottawa – 2019), Lee Curry (Camelot – 2021) and Austin James (Loyalist – 2021). Since 2012, GUNNGOLF’s Graham Gunn has won the senior championship on seven occasions with only Bob Flaro (2013), Steve Hall (2017, 2022) and Marc Foucault (2018) breaking his string of victories.
The defending champion from 2022 in the Assistants’ Championship is Allen McGee from the Edgewood Links Golf Club and Steve Hall from the Pine View Golf Club is the defending Senior Champion. Allen McGee was recently inducted into the Ottawa Valley Golf Association Hall of Fame in the Player category.
The Mississippi Golf Club
The Mississippi Golf Club is an 18-hole semi-private golf course located on 190 acres overlooking the picturesque Mississippi River. Established in 1915 on the former Patterson farm in Appleton, just five miles east of Carleton Place, the Mississippi is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ontario. The Mississippi is an enjoyable course to walk, friendly to novice golfers while at the same time a surprising challenge to experienced players.
PGA of Canada – Ottawa Zone
The Ottawa Zone of the PGA of Canada was established in 1975 becoming one of nine zones across Canada. The PGA of Ottawa is a non-profit Association comprised of nearly 200 golf professionals across the Zone. The Association’s mandate is to develop, promote and support its members in living a better life and earning a better living while growing participation, excellence and passion for the sport of golf.
