A summary of how the top Canadians fared this past week on various professional golf tours.

PGA TOUR

Keegan Bradley was a popular winner at The Travelers Championship, one of the elevated PGA TOUR events.

Just one Canadian, Corey Conners, made it to the weekend, and he mad the most of it, despite not being in the hunt for the win.

The two-time PGA TOUR winner from Listowel, Ontario finished in a share of 9th place, worth a tidy sum of $525,000 to take his season-long earnings over the $4.2 million mark.

LPGA TOUR

Playing for the largest purse offered on the LPGA TOUR, $10 million (USD), Canada’s Brooke Henderson came up with a t-15 finish after rounds of 67-74-72-69 (-2) on the difficult Lower Course at Baltusrol, New Jersey in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. The winning score by Ruoning Yin was just -8.

That earned Henderson $125,531 for her 3rd highest finish on 2023 in her 12th start.

To date in her career at this championship (9 starts) she has earned $1,552,612 of her $11 million in official LPGA Tour winnings.

PGA TOUR Champions

After earning one of three spots available in a qualifier, Alan McLean was the lone Canadian playing in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, New York. He fashioned rounds of 74-70-68 (-4) to finish ina share of 33rd.

He now heads to Stevens Point, Wisconsin for the U.S. Senior Open Championship where he will join fellow Canadians Danny King, Mike Weir, and Stephen Ames in the field.

Korn Ferry Tour

Ben Silverman was once again the top Canadian for the week on the Korn Ferry Tour. The Thornhill, Ontario golfer finished in a share of 11th place at the Compliance Solutions Championship in Norman, Oklahoma.

B.C’s Roger Sloan tied for 30th.

Epson Tour

Alena Sharp was the lone Canadian to make the cut at the Island Report Championship presented by Delta Country Chamber in Harris, Michigan.

The 42-year-old veteran continued to show the spark she has had in her game of late by earbing a tie for 7th place. It follows a 4th place and a win in her last three starts on the circuit.

In the nine round she has played in those events she is cumulative thirty-nine under par.

PGA TOUR Canada

The second event on the Canadian circuit find them in Saskatchewan for the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open presented by Brandt in Waskesiu Lake.

American John Pak earned his first professional win while ten of the twenty-eight Canadians in the field made the weekend of play.

The top amongst them was Noah Steele of Kingston, Ontario. His -14 total (69-67-64-66) left him in a share of 8th place.

Canada’s Etienne Papineau continues to lead the year-long Fortinet Cup Standings after his win last week and a t-37 finish this week.

PGA Tour Latinoamérica 

A fifth top-ten finish of the year made Nova Scotia’s Myles Creighton the top Canadian at the Jalisco Open GDL in Mexico.

Creighton used rounds of 69-70-66-67 (-12) to tie for 4th place.

Also having a strong showing was B.C.’s Stuart Macdonald who tied for 13th place.

Both players will be in next week’s BUPA Tour Championship, along with fellow Canadians Joey Savoie and Max Sekulic.

Women’s All-Pro Tour

Play completed on Saturday at the Women’s All-Pro Tour event in Abilene, Texas.

Brigitte Thibault, who complete her collegiate career in the state at the University of Texas, was the best of the Canadians, finishing in a tie for 5th place. It’s her third consecutive top-5 finish on the tour.

Mary Parson (Delta, B.C.) turned in a tie for thirteenth place this week at the Mackie Construction Pro Golf Classic while another player from the west coast, Megan Osland of Kelowna, took solo 24th.
